Judge's Committee

The People Have the Power

Message from our Executive Producer Francesco Vitali:
“We want your film to be loved by the people who love films, by people like you who know how to pick up a camera, by colleagues who themselves write scripts, or who themselves have collaborated in any way on the completion of a film, or at very least by people who are fans of films in general. The public has emotions and the instinct as it has the responsibility of its opinion."

Ideally, the mountains, the rivers, and the trees should be the judges for your films. But mother Nature does not criticize. It simply accepts. However, this is a contest, so there must be a way to judge the films.

We have improved on the process for choosing the winners of this year's competition. There will be three Groups to ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate. We have come up with a system that allows for public opinion as well as review by film industry professionals. All of this, while ensuring that the public voting is fair – there will be no voting only for one film, which will cut out the possibility of a popularity contest. There will be a People's Choice Award winner for each group. There will also be a 48 Go Green Grand Prize 2012 winner chosen from all submissions for the year.

The People Have the Power

The competition will be divided into three Groups. Group A will compete on March 9-11, 2012. Group B will compete June 29-July 1, 2012, and Group C will compete September 28-30, 2012. At the end of each Group's event, there will be a chance for the public to view the submissions streaming on our website. The public will be required to vote for three favorite films, no more and no less. This is to ensure fairness for all participants. From these votes 15 finalists will be determined for that Group. This will bring the number of finalists to 45 in total.

People's Choice

At the end of each of the competitions, the top vote winner from the public will be named. Remember, the public will be required to vote for three favorite films, no more and no less, and the film with the most votes will be tabulated. This winner will be the People's Choice Award! There will be a winner for each event.

Judges' Committee

Parallel to the voting online for the People's Choice award winner, the Judges' Committee will be working hard behind the scenes, choosing the top 15 films of 2012. This will be completely independent of the People's Choice Award, so it is entirely possible that the public will choose someone different than these 15.

At 48 Go Green, we believe that actual artists with experience should judge the film. We NEVER use film critics! To truly judge the value of a film, you need to have done more than watch a lot of movies. You need to have been involved in the process, knowing what goes on behind the camera. So for our Judges' Committee, we will feature talented, experienced professionals in the world of film making. We believe this will ensure honest, valuable judgment for the competitors for the Grand Prize.

After all three events, the Judges' Committee will be working hard behind the scenes, choosing the top 15 films of 2012. From the top 45 finalists voted for by the public, the winner of the 48 Go Green Grand Prize 2012 will be determined! This award will be $10,000 and a trip to Hollywood, California! The first and second runners-up will receive $1000, and the People's Choice Award winner will receive $500! And yes, it will possible to win both the People's Choice Award and the 48 Go Green Grand Prize 2012.

Each of the 15 Finalists for 48 Go Green 2012 will screen in Hollywood, California, USA!
